The #1 Gators were a little slow out of the gate during their match this week against
the #2 Blythewood Bengals but were able to finish strong to pull into a 70-pin lead
over the Bengals by the end of game one. During game two, the Gators really found
their stride riding a strong performance by Austin Jones who was able to rattle off
the first 6 strikes before eventually breaking his perfection.
Nathan Barnes made an impact with his season debut during week 2. Barnes’
contributions during the second team game and both baker games were
instrumental in the Gators win against the Bengals. Barnes also helped set up Jones
in the final baker game by striking on both of his opportunities during that game.
The Gators and Bengals were dead even going into the last man that final baker
game. The pressure was on Jones during that final frame to keep the Gators
undefeated season going. Jones stepped up and sealed the win for the Gators to go
10-0 for the second week in a row.
The Gators look to ride their momentum into week three as they travel to Columbia
next week to face the Chapin Eagles. The match will be held at Royal Z Lanes at 5
p.m. on January 28th.
