Thanks in part to a third-inning boost that scored eight runs, River Bluff blew past Newberry 11-1 on Wednesday in Day 3 action of the Forest Acres Classic at AC Flora High School.
The Gators got things started in the first inning on a Beau Hollins ground-out that scored a run.
River Bluff then scored eight runs in the third inning. Ethan Plyler, Beau Hollins, Todd Hudson, Walker Mitchell, Jack Benedict, and Wyatt McPherson each had RBIs in the big inning.
Hollins was credited with the victory for River Bluff, allowing two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four, and walking one.
Parker Watson, Weston Grant, and Andrew Vaughn all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Weston Lever, Plyler, Hudson, Mitchell, McPherson, Alec Banks, Tyler McClendon, Benedict, and Hollins each collected one hit to lead River Bluff Gators Varsity.
The win pushed the Gators to 3-0 in the tournament and earns them a spot in Thursday’s championship game at 3 pm.
